Everyone will tell you that your website should look up-to-date, but are your plugins and coding language updated? Aside from keeping up with technology trends, keeping your coding language is important. Updating PHP will improve the speed and security of your site, important for things such as SEO and user experience. With every update of PHP, there are improved security measures against hackers. Not to mention, PHP 5.6 and 7.0 will no longer be supported come February 21. You can read more about it here.
This change is relatively easy to implement, but before you do so, make sure you backup your website and update your plugins. This will reduce the potential issues that could occur during the update. Then, as always – test, test test!
