How to transform meetings from mundane to meaningful

Ask anyone in the corporate world what is their least favourite activity? The answer is almost always unanimous. Meetings! Boring, tedious, too-long meetings that could very easily have been far shorter, more focused, or even replaced by an email.

Now imagine what you could do with all that time you’d save. The good news is that with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), you can!

Most people would rate their current meetings at a 4 or a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. But EOS offers you a much better alternative – a Level 10 Meeting (L10). This meeting structure allows the participants to focus on the most important topics and those issues that could develop into bigger problems. The Level 10 Meeting provides organizations with a standard structure to hold truly productive meetings, by laying out a template that enables team members to focus on the important things each week. By concentrating on only the vital tasks, this template also helps exclude time-wasting elements like politics and tangential, sidebar conversations.

Thanks to the L10 meeting structure, our meetings at Azul Arc have become so much more productive and structured. That’s why, we’ve implemented this throughout our organization – from weekly leadership and product meetings to monthly finance reviews.

The Entrepreneurial Operating System also offers another excellent framework that is especially designed to help companies achieve their goals by working within a 90-Day World and setting and reviewing priorities every quarter. This process includes three quarterly meetings and an annual planning session, allowing your teams to step outside the daily operations to review the previous quarter and strategize about the next 90 days.

Operating in a 90-Day World, helps people work with an increased focus and productivity, with clearer goals and priorities, and enhanced team alignment and collaboration.

This 90-Day World system has enabled each one of us at Azul Arc to work with quarterly rocks that represent the initiatives we are focussed on, both individually as well as collectively.

We’ve also started holding quarterly team retreats to tackle the key issues that will help drive improvement for our business. In fact, this has not only proven an incredible tool for progress and growth, it has also offered us all an opportunity to bond and inject some fun into our work. The last quarterly retreat included a team raclette dinner with good wine. Talk about mixing work with pleasure for truly great results!
